Man Bags Life Imprisonment For Raping 15-year-old Pupil In Ekiti
An Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti Division, on Wednesday, convicted and sentenced one Ojo Ayegbusi to life imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old girl.
The defendant, who committed the offence on November 11, 2020, at Ikole Ekiti, was charged with the offence of rape.
“She could not tell anybody of her nasty experience, but her father found out when the girl was rushed to hospital after she collapsed at home and blood was gushing out of her private parts
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Ekiti State, Julius Ajibare, said, “The offence of rape is contrary to Section 31(2) of the Child’s Rights Law, Cap.C7, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.”
Ajibare, who prosecuted the case for Ekiti State, called five witnesses and tendered three exhibits in support of his case.
In the judgment, Justice John Adeyeye held that “the prosecution proved the offence of rape against the defendant beyond reasonable doubt.”
The court consequently convicted the defendant and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
