Police Arrest Broadcaster Nonsonkwa For Alleged Cyberstalking, Defamation
Imo Police Command has arrested broadcast journalist Chinoso Uba popularly known as Nonsonkwa for alleged cyberstalking, character defamation, spreading misinformation, and inciting civil unrest.
The videos allegedly contained inflammatory statements about the burning of the National Open University (NOUN) Study Center in Nsu, Ehime Mbano LGA, on September 30, 2024.
A statement by Imo police spokesman, Henry Okoye, in Owerri, on Monday, stated Nonsonkwa was apprehended for alleged “cyberstalking, character defamation, misinformation and civil unrest” following a petition to the police by an unnamed person.
Contrary to reports of abduction, the police clarified that Nonsonkwa was detained at the State Headquarters and will face charges after a comprehensive investigation.
He said: “The Command clarifies that he was not abducted. Nonsonkwa is currently detained at State Headquarters and will be arraigned in court with appropriate charges once a comprehensive investigation is completed.”
