APC Loses Yaba Ward D Councilorship Seat To PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party has secured a rare victory in the Lagos local government elections, clinching the councillorship seat in Ward D of the Yaba Local Council Development Area.
The PDP candidate, Babatunde Dosunmu, a former member of the All Progressives Congress, defeated the ruling party’s candidate in what is seen as a symbolic upset in the state’s political landscape.
Dosunmu’s win marks the only councillorship seat captured by the PDP out of the 376 contested across Lagos State’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.
On Saturday the Yaba axis witnessed minor skirmishes, as supporters of both parties reportedly clashed.
However, officers of the Lagos State Police Command swiftly intervened to restore order, allowing the voting process to continue peacefully.
