Kano Emir Pays Condolence Visit To Buhari’s Family
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, on Tuesday, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna State.
According to a close associate of the Emir, Muhammad Dallatu, the monarch arrived at the Buhari residence at around 1:00pm and was received by the wife of the late President, Aisha Buhari, and his son, Yusuf Buhari.
He added that the Emir was accompanied by senior members of the Kano Emirate Council and palace aides.
During the visit, the Kano Emir offered prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul and described the former Nigerian leader as “a statesman of deep conviction, discipline, and national service.”
“We are here on behalf of the Kano Emirate and the good people of Kano to sympathise with the family and offer our prayers,” Sanusi said.
He urged the family to remain steadfast and take solace in the impactful and principled life Buhari lived, noting that his leadership style earned him national and international recognition.
The late President Muhammadu Buhari, who served as military Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, died recently after a brief illness.
He was buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Kano Emir’s visit is one of several condolence visits by traditional and political leaders to the Buhari family, as the nation continues to mourn the loss of one of its most influential post-independence leaders.
