Yusuf Nominates Two Commissioners To Kano Assembly
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has forwarded the names of two nominees to the Kano State House of Assembly for confirmation as Commissioners.
This is contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, in Kano on Sunday.
Maude is a lawyer with extensive experience in office administration, Court proceedings, and corporate practice.
Isa-Aliyu is a renowned researcher in Mathematics and currently serves as the Statistician-General/Director General of the Kano State Bureau of Statistics.
The Governor had also approved the appointment of Salisu Tahir as the new Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice.
Tahir previously served as the Director of Public Prosecution in the ministry.
Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting competence, professionalism, and integrity in public service, as he injects young and energetic new members into the cabinet.
The nomination and appointment follow recent scandals that led to the resignation of the Commissioner for Transportation, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, over his involvement in securing bail for a suspected drug offender.
Earlier on Sunday, the Kano Government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management.
This comes as the state becomes increasingly in the spotlight over multiple corruption-related cases.
Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission are probing allegations of a N6.5bn diversion linked to the governor’s Director-General of Protocol.
In addition to that, the corruption scandal engulfing the government widened after the state’s Commissioner for Community and Rural Development, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, reportedly admitted to authorising a payment of N1.17bn — which investigators say was fraudulent — while serving as the Accountant General.
