PDP Seeks Clarity On Edo $250m Deal With EuroAfrica

The newly inaugurated Executive Committee of People Democratic Party in Edo State has demanded that the state governor, Monday Okpebholo, clarify the $250 million agreement with the European African Chamber of Commerce and Industries (EuroAfrica CCI).

In a statement on Sunday by the Publicity Secretary, Daniel Osa-Ogbegie, the party said the claim has become a source of embarrassment to Edo people at the moment.

The party said it would also question the abandonment of projects initiated under the administration of Godwin Obaseki, and would shine light on fiscal management practices that appear to ignore transparency and responsibility.

The Edo State Government, on September 25, said the governor signed a $250 million agreement with the EuroAfrica CCI, a coalition of chambers of commerce spanning 98 countries across Europe and Africa.

The agreement was said to have been signed during the 2025 Edo State Global Investment Summit, which took place in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom.

In a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the agreement establishes a framework for strategic investment in Edo State for a period of three to five years.

However, the PDP spokesperson in a statement said, “We will demand clarity on the Governor’s claim of a $250 million investment from Glasgow that has become a source of embarrassment to Edo people at the moment.

“We will question the abandonment of projects initiated under the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki, and we will shine light on fiscal management practices that appear to ignore transparency and responsibility.”

The PDP said it affirmed its respect for constituted authority and for the institutions of governance, noting that the party allegiance remained with the people of Edo State.

The statement added, “In this regard, we serve notice to the ruling All Progressives Congress and to the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo: the PDP will hold you accountable to Edo people.

“Also, our allegiance remains first and foremost to the people of Edo State. Where government policies uplift the people, we shall lend our support; but where governance falters into oppression, waste, or deception, we shall stand firmly with the people.”

Osa-Ogbegie also called on the Publicity Secretary of the APC, Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie and the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paul Ohonbamu, to be ready for robust engagement on the government policies, adding,
“Gentlemen, the road ahead will be robust. I am prepared for it. I trust you will be too.”

He also said that a new exco of the party was inaugurated on Saturday to take over from the Caretaker Committee.
