MMPN Commiserates With Olaniyonu Over Wife’s Death
The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaja Aishat Olaniyonu, the wife of former ThisDay Editor and former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Senate President, Alhaji Yusuph Olaniyonu, who died two days ago and was laid to rest yesterday in accordance with Islamic rites. The deceased was aged 52.
A condolence message by MMPN National President, Alhaji AbdurRahman Balogun (ARAB), described the death as a painful and irreparable loss, not only to the Olaniyonu family but also to the larger media community and all who knew her for her humility, piety, and kindness.
The association noted that Mrs. Olaniyonu was a devoted Muslim, a supportive wife, and a mother whose life was characterized by compassion, modesty, and service to humanity. Her quiet strength and steadfast support contributed immensely to her husband’s professional success and community service.
MMPN urged Alhaji Olaniyonu to take solace in the fact that his late wife lived a fulfilled and impactful life within her 52 years on earth, leaving behind enduring legacies of faith, good character, and family values.
The group prayed that Almighty Allah grants her Al-Jannah Firdaus and comforts her husband, children, and all loved ones she left behind.
The association also prayed that Allah strengthens the bereaved family with patience (sabr) and fortitude to bear the loss, reminding them that every soul shall taste death and that true believers are rewarded for their endurance in times of trial.
