South Africa President Condemns U.S. Capture Of Venezuela’s Maduro

The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, has condemned the United States capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

The President made this known in a post shared on his official X page on Tuesday, stating that he stands with the people of Venezuela.

Ramaphosa wrote, “We reject utterly the actions embarked upon by the United States and we stand with the people of Venezuela.”

He added, “It is our commitment to international law and the United Nations Charter that informs our deep concern and action of the United States in Venezuela which has undermined the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the UN member state called Venezuela.

“We reject utterly the actions that the United States has embarked upon and stand with the people of Venezuela.”

The President called for a decisive action by the UN, saying, “We reiterate our call for decisive action by the United Nations Security Council to fulfil its mandate and advance peace and security.”

The United Nations has similarly condemned the United States attack on Venezuela, labelling it as a dangerous precedent.
