Gunmen Kidnap Pregnant Woman In Ondo Community
Some armed men reportedly attacked Ayede Community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State and kidnapped a pregnant woman, Mary Jesulayomi.
It was gathered that the hoodlums stormed the community, which is a few meters away from the Federal Secretariat complex, Akure, and started shooting indiscriminately into the air, causing pandemonium in the community.
In a viral video on Wednesday, an old man, Pa Ogunleye Mese, who is a resident of the community, narrated that the hoodlums entered the community at about 7pm on Tuesday and carried out the attack.
He said the gunmen attempted to abduct him and his wife but both of them managed to escape.
The pregnant woman who came to buy something from their shop was not as lucky, as she was taken away.
In the four minutes video, the old man who spoke in Akure dialect said, “They (bandits) came here yesterday evening, and they started shooting sporadically into the air.
“They came to my house here, they wanted to kidnap me but I managed to escape but they initially abducted my wife and a pregnant woman who came to buy something in our shop.
“My wife too managed to escape but they took the pregnant woman away.”
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident and said efforts were ongoing to rescue the victim.
The PPRO said, “A kidnap case occurred yesterday around 7.40pm at Ayede Community near Alagbaka Extension, Akure, where one Mrs Mary Jesulayomi was captured and taken away; Mrs Ogunleye Mese.
