Ex-Tottenham Midfielder Bissouma Joins Ajax
Former Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has joined Ajax on an initial deal that will keep him at the Dutch club until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old defensive midfielder became a free agent after being released by Tottenham in June.
Bissouma’s contract includes an option for a further 12 months, according to BBC Sport on Wednesday
Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff said the club had been in talks with Bissouma since August.
“We have brought in an experienced player who knows what it takes to perform at the highest level. He is capable of playing in several positions, and we hope he will be available for selection as soon as possible,” Cruyff said.
Bissouma joined Tottenham from Brighton in 2022 and made 111 appearances for the north London club.
In August 2025, then-Tottenham manager Thomas Frank left Bissouma out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain because of persistent lateness.
Bissouma made 11 appearances for Tottenham in his final season, all in the Premier League, as Spurs finished 17th for the second consecutive season.
His move to Ajax gives the Mali international an opportunity to return to regular football and continue his career in the Netherlands.
