Another Car Crash: Netizens Urge Authorities To Ban DJ Chicken From Driving

A new road accident involving controversial entertainer DJ Chicken in Lekki, Lagos, has reignited public concern over his driving.

Footage from the scene showed his vehicle heavily damaged, with bystanders expressing shock at what some Nigerians on social media described as a pattern of dangerous and reckless driving behaviour. This incident adds to a string of accidents linked to DJ Chicken over the past two months in Ogun and Lagos States.

In a post shared on X on Saturday, A user who identifies as Chief Ayodele Afolabi (Otun Bashorun), called on authorities to immediately prohibit DJ Chicken from driving, citing escalating risks to public safety.

“I wish to express my deep concern regarding the repeated incidents involving the individual popularly known as DJ Chicken. Within the past two months, he has been involved in no fewer than three serious road accidents, each posing grave danger to the public, Afolabi wrote.

“Most recently, a life-threatening incident occurred in Sagamu, leaving a lady with serious injury and only yesterday, another alarming episode took place on Kelly Street, where he nearly ran over several pedestrians. It was only by sheer providence and the intervention of a roadside gutter that a greater tragedy was averted, as the vehicle involved was almost completely destroyed.”

Afolabi stressed that the situation has moved beyond social media outrage and urged urgent regulatory intervention:

“Given this troubling pattern of reckless behaviour, it is my considered opinion that DJ Chicken should be immediately prohibited from operating any vehicle within any part of the country until further notice. This measure is necessary to safeguard the lives of innocent citizens and prevent future tragedies.

“I call on the appropriate authorities to treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves and to take urgent action in the interest of public safety.”

Another X user, Ayodele Balogun who identifies as #lordfizzle0331 echoing the call for stricter action wrote, I wish the authorities will do the right thing before he finally takes someone’s life or cause them grave injuries. But the Nigeria that we know it is definitely until this mad man kill someone/people on the road that action will be taken.”

Ayọ̀ọlá.who tweets as #Handyleema added, “How many accidents does one person need before we agree he’s a danger on the road? Abeg, let him rest from driving before he turns busy roads into crime scenes. In a country that works, his licence to drive on the road would have been revoked by now.”

“Not only should his driving license be revoked, assuming he has one, he should be permanently banned from driving, arrested and prosecuted for endangering public safety. Uzoamaka who identifies as #moadelekan, called for permanent action.

OMO AKIN $NODEPAY who writes as #MorakinyoIdris highlighting the urgency, said, “Honestly, this is a fair call. Three major accidents in two months is not “bad luck” it’s a clear danger to the public. Restricting him from driving is not punishment, it’s protection for everyone else on the road. isn’t about celebrity or vibes anymore. Anybody with this kind of accident record should be off the road immediately.

“People’s lives are at stake. Let the authorities act fast. At this point, it’s no longer an “incident,” it’s a pattern. If the system doesn’t restrict him from driving now, they’re just waiting for a bigger tragedy. Public safety first.”

The latest crash has reignited nationwide discussions on celebrity accountability, road safety, and the need for stricter enforcement to prevent further incidents.
