APC Warns Fayose Against Plotting National Crisis, Destruction Of Ekiti Economy

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of plots to instigate a national crisis to slow down progress being made by President Muhammadu Buhari to stimulate the economy for better living conditions for Nigerians.

The party also alleged that all the activities of the governor since assumption of office are targeted at making profits for himself while the people and businesses suffer the consequences.

He warned the governor on the consequences of his actions geared towards national sabotage to hurt Buhari’s administration’s push for economic recovery and stabilisation.

Reacting to Tuesday’s demolition and vandalisation of petrol stations in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, accused the governor of systemic and sustained orchestration of activities that would slow down the administration of President Buhari towards delivering on its promises for economic recovery for the welfare of the citizens.

“Governor Fayose has never hidden his plots to sabotage national economy because of his hatred for the President, which propelled him to write the Chinese government not to grant Nigeria financial aid to get out of the economic recession caused by the party he (Fayose) belongs, all in a bid to put Buhari’s administration in bad light.

“Besides getting himself involved in this treasonable act of sabotage after assuming power also through treason, Fayose has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that he would go to any length to instigate a national crisis that will distract the President from fixing Nigeria’s problems.

“Tuesday demolition and vandalisation of petrol stations, including mini marts belonging to the opposition figures and Muslim leaders after denying them places of worship and learning centres for their children, is one way Fayose hopes to instigate a national crisis that will cripple the economy and put Buhari’s administration in jeopardy.

“After collecting millions of naira in charges and fees for approval to run  filling stations in the state capital, it is baffling that Fayose is imposing fresh charges that must be paid directly to him, the refusal of which caused him to unleash his thugs on Tuesday to destroy these filling stations,” Olatunbosun explained.

He alleged that Fayose is all out to make money illegally through brute force at the detriment of the business owners, who face “daunting challenges” arising from forceful payment of endless charges and fees personally to the governor against the corporate governance of the businesses concerned.

He explained: “Fayose closed down GTB and Ecobank because the managements of these banks refused to surrender their community social responsibility cash to him personally against their corporate practice, resulting in job losses in those banks by Ekiti indigenes working there.

“He closed down and withdrew the licence of the burnt petrol station at Ijigbo area of the state capital because the owner directly paid the victims compensation of the fire incident for their losses, refusing to surrender the compensation cash to Fayose for disbursement to the victims as  demanded by the governor.

“Not done, he took the owner of the station to court for his refusal to surrender the compensation cash to him, which caused a few weeks strike by oil workers before it was called off after intervention by the national body of the oil union after an agreement with the governor, which he broke, resulting in the ongoing strike over which Fayose’s aides, including his security coordinator,  and thugs on Tuesday to destroy the filling stations.”

He warned Fayose against conducts that could force business closures in the state, saying the governor’s open hostility against non indigene because of their state of origin background was a dangerous signal for the man who though not an indigene, had established businesses in Ado-Ekiti for more than 30 years to create jobs for Ekiti people.

“Fayose’s conduct since assumption of office, scaring away investors and closing down businesses just because he wants to make money is disincentive to the economic fortunes of the state capital, forcing job losses and capital flight.

“Now that he has introduced ethnic and religious dimensions to his sabotage plots against the Federal Government, security agencies should move fast before Fayose causes havoc to national peace, stability and security.

“His action to close down learning centres for Muslim children and undisguised hatred for muslims leaders is a recipe for religious crisis and ethnic tension to enable Fayose achieve his sinister motive to plunge the nation into a needless crisis to distract Buhari from fixing the nation’s economic crisis, Olatunbosun explained.
