Coalition Of Civil Society Adjudges Osun Governorship Election As Credible

Coalition of INEC Accredited Civil Society Domestic Election Observers have adjudged the Saturday governorship election in Osun as credible.
Addressing newsmen in Osogbo on Monday, the national coordinator of the coalition, Comrade Fidelis Nweke said that the exercise met the required international standard for credible democratic elections.
Nweke noted with concern that while the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC was prepared and committed to conducting free, fair and transparent election by providing a level playing ground, some parties had orchestrated plans to ensure that the process did not go well as envisaged.
He lauded  the electoral umpire for its uncompromising position on the strict compliance to the use of the Bi-modal Voters Accreditation System (BIVAS) as well as actionable intervention by the electoral management body in areas of conflict and other violations to a very large extent.
“We wish to commend INEC for making materials even though some political party’s thugs made their work difficult, INEC has indeed proven that our electoral process has impressively improved”
The observers recommended civic voters education by stakeholders especially civil society groups considering the crowd of registered voters witnessed in polling units which they claimed reflected to an impressive high voters participation based on the numbers of accredited voter cards by the BIVAS.
They enjoined all the candidates that participated in the election to join hand and see themselves as co-winner and tow the path of peace.
