Court Remands Driver Over Manslaughter In Osun
An Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife has remanded one Odugoke Tunde, (17), over alleged manslaughter.
His prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant drove dangerously on the public highway without any regards to traffic laws.
According to him, the defendant drove one Toyota Camry with Reg No: KJA 698 BJ recklessly on the public Highway without driver license and caused injury to one Dominic Ohate and Adeleke Kayode.
He added that the defendant drove recklessly on a public highway and caused damage to one Toyota Camry with Reg No: KJA 698 BJ, property of one Salako Adenike and also caused damages to one Honda Motorcycle with Reg No: SRA 501 QB, the property of one Dominic Oha.
He said that the offence contravened sections 6(10), 7(1), 13(1) and 27 of the Road Traffic Law, Cap 115, Vol 11, Law of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to a seven-count charge of dangerous driving, driving without driver license, manslaughter among others,
The Defence Counsel, Mr Ben Adirieje, applied for the bail of the defendant in liberal term with a pledge that his client would not jump bail but stand his case.
Magistrate A. A. Adebayo did not grant the bail of the defendant but ordered for his remand in Ilesa Correctional custody as he adjourned the case until July 28, for bail consideration.
