Court Sentences Man To One-year In Correctional Facility Over IPhone Theft In Osun
An Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Tuesday, sentenced one Branch Clinton, 22, to one year in Correctional Custody over IPhone theft and fraud.
He however gave him an option of N10, 000 on each count, which is N30,000 on a three-count charge.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov 18, 2020, around 11:00 am at Mayfair area, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the defendant stole one iPhone 8plus handset valued N166,000, property of one Adediwura Ogunleye.
He added that the defendant fraudulently obtained the sum of N50,000 from one Shittu Samuel with pretence to use the money to pay house rent for him which he failed to do.
According to him, the defendant stole and fraudulently converted N50,000 that belonged to Shittu Samuel to his own use.
Osanyintuyi stated further that the offence contravened sections 383,390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
