Court Jails 3 Men, One Woman For Trafficking In Hard Drugs
Justice Friday Ogazi of a Federal High Court, Lagos, has convicted and sentenced three men and a woman for trafficking in series of prohibited hard drugs.
The three men convicted by the court are: Ebulue Lotanna Uzochukwu, Micheal Christopher Ndubuisi, Nwafor Tochukwu Boniface while the woman was Robert Doris.
Justice Ogazi convicted and sentenced each of the convicted men and woman after they all pleaded guilty to the drug trafficking allegations made against them by the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Tuesday.
While the dou of Ebulue Lotanna Uzochukwu and Micheal Christopher Ndubuisi were convicted and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment with N1 million fine, for conspiracy and unlawful possession of 16 grams of Cocaine, 5.40 kilograms of Methamphetamine, 200 grams of Methcathinone and 10. 70 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, in a charge numbered FHC/L/1214c/2025.
The judge however ordered that if the convicts elect not to pay the N1 million fine, they should remain in prison for another four months.
Nwafor Tochukwu Boniface who was brought before the court in the charge marked FHC/L/1186c/2025, was convicted and sentenced to sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, he was however ordered to pay the sum of N4 million as fine option with four months community service.
While Doris Robert who was arraigned before the court in the charge numbered FHC/L/1186c/2025, was convict and sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, for unlawful exported 3.80 kilograms of Tramadol 225mg, but ordered to pay the fine of N1.5 million with four months community service. In addition, the court also ordered that her international passport be seized and returned to the Nigeria immigration Service for cancellation.
Arraigning the convicts, the prosecutor, Barrister Abu Ibrahim, told the court that the duo of Ebulue Lotanna Uzochukwu and Micheal Christopher Ndubuisi, committed the offences on November 18, 2025, at the GUO motor Park in Onitsha, Anambra and Lagos Lagos States.
Barrister Abu also informed the court that Nwafor Tochukwu Boniface was arrested with the prohibited drug, at the NAHCO Export shed, a Customs area/point of the Murtala Muhammed International airport, Ikeja, Lagos, on November 2025.
While he told the court that the convicted woman, Doris Robert, was arrested with the banned drug on November 13, 2025 during the outward clearance of passengers aboard Qatar Airways flight from Lagos to Italy at the Departure Hall of New Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Ikeja-Lagos.
He told the court that the offences committed by the convicts, contravened sections 19, and 11 (b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
All the convicts admitted committing the crimes and they all pleaded guilty to charges made against them.
Following their guilty plea, the prosecutor urged the court to convict them based on their plea, exhibits tendered and in accordance to section 274(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) of 2025.
But the convicts through their lawyers who include; R. M. J. Nyiew, Kate Igbo, and Uche Okoronkwo, in their allocutor pleaded with the court to tamper justice with mercy in sentencing their clients on the ground that they are all first time convicts and for for not wasting the precious time of the court, and among others.
