Court Of Appeal May Relocate To Osogbo Over Gov’ship Poll Verdict
Fresh facts have emerged that the Federal Court of Appeal, Akure Division will soon shift its base to Osogbo to commence sitting on the appeal filed by Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the verdict of Osun gubernatorial election petition tribunal that declared Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the winner of September 22, 2018 governorship election in the state.
The Appeal Court according to source will not only sit on the appeal filled by Governor Oyetola and his party but also adjudicate on other matters related to election during its sojourn in Osun.
It would be recalled that Oyetola and his party not satisfied with the judgement of the election petition tribunal delivered in Abuja approached the Federal Court of Appeal to secure favorable judgement.
The Court of Appeal in Akure had on Saturday upheld the judgement of an Osun High court and reaffirmed the eligibility of Senator Ademola Adeleke to contest the Osun governorship election.
The ruling of the Court of Appeal by implication may have nullified the judgement of a Bwari, Abuja High court that declared Adeleke not fit to run for the seat of governor of Osun.
Apparently, the ruling was delivered on a Saturday to facilitate the commencement and speedy dispensation of justice in the governorship appeal suit and other related election matters.
It was further gathered that this will be first time the Federal Court of Appeal will adjudicate on any matter outside Akure where it is domiciled.
According to the source, the opening session that will hold at the premises of Osun state High Court, Osogbo is expected to be witnessed by dignitaries that include high ranking members of the bench, the bar, top government functionaries among others
