Court Remands Radio Presenter In Agodi Prison Over Murder

An Ibadan Magistrate Court on Tuesday ordered that popular radio presenter, Mr. Oriyomi Hamzat be remanded at Agodi Prison over alleged murder.
The 37 year old presenter was docked along with four others namely Idowu Ibrahim 27, Mohammed. Bashir‎ 31, Taiwo Olaronke 23 and Yusuff Toyeeb Ajisafe 23 at Court 3, Iyaganku, Ibadan, for allegedly ‎killing a 17-year old boy.
The accused were arraigned on a two count charge of conspiracy and murder with charge No.  MI/1248c/2017.
The prosecutor, Mr. Sunday Fatola told the court  that Hamazat and others, on July 21, 2017 at about 4am, at Make a Future Alive Initiative, Atolu, Para Inuege, Oremeji Agugu in the Ibadan Magisterial District, conspired together to commit murder.
Fatola‎ further told the court that they unlawfully caused the death of one Peter, 17, by inflicting an injury on his head and body,
Prosecutor said the offence was contrary to, and punishable under section 324 and sections 316 and 319 of the criminal code cap 38 Vol 11 laws of Oyo state of Nigeria, 2000.

In his argument, his counsel Mr. Olumuyiwa Makinde however expressed the belief that ‎the high court would grant his clients bail when the case was eventually transferred to the court.
In his ruling, the Magistrate Mr.  A.A. Adebisi ordered the accused to be remanded in Agodi Prison pending the legal advice from the state Director of public prosecution (DPP) and adjourned the case till September 5th 2017.
