Court Verdict For Good Of Our Communities-Monarch
The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi has said the court verdict asserting his supremacy is for the good of the communities.
He said he will work with other traditional rulers towards bringing development to communities in Ondo State.
Oba Aladelusi made the promise in his palace while reacting to an Akure High Court judgment which upheld his supremacy in all communities in Akure South and Akure North Local Government Areas.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Michael Adeyeye, the monarch said the judgment would further bring about unity as he would continue to sue for peaceful co-existence and harmonious relationship among all traditional rulers in Akure land.
It would be recalled that the Oloba of Oba-Ile and some monarchs in Akure North had dragged Deji before an Akure High Court over a year ago challenging his powers to install some monarchs in Akure North, but the judgment was eventually delivered in favour of the Deji.
But the monarch said, “It is a gross contradiction of historical fact and indeed, logic to assume that the power of the Deji is restricted to Akure South has been erroneously canvassed by the Plaintiff.
” The court judgment has finally brought to rest the controversies surrounding the traditional powers of the Deji. The judgment of the Ondo State High Court validates the age-long power of the Deji of Akure Land over communities historically, traditionally and customarily under the control of His Imperial Majesty, the Deji of Akure Land.
“It is expedient to state that this judgment is a win-win situation with no victor or vanquished as the Deji remains the father to all irrespective of what might have transpired in the course of this needless tussle.
“There is no iota of doubt that this judgment will further unite us rather than divide us as being speculated. Oba Aladetoyinbo wishes to state that he will continue to sue for peaceful co-existence and harmonious relationship among all traditional rulers in Akure Land.
” We will not allow the profiteers to divide us under any guise. All other Chiefs and Obas in the affected Local Government shall be duly carried along and given their due respect notwithstanding the effect of the judgment of the Ondo State High Court earlier referred to”.
Oba Aladelusi, however, maintained that he would effect the court judgment by upholding the installation of Olu of Ayetoro, Chief Sule Ojo and removal of Asinigbo of Isinigbo, Mr Samuel Elewuju.
“Moreover, His Imperial Majesty believes in the unity and progress of Akure despite the clear position of the High Court on the powers of the Deji to appoint minor chiefs in his community where he had such powers before the bifurcation of Local Government”, he added.
