COVID 19 Vaccination: Ekiti Health Commissioner Sensitizes Traditional Council Of Obas
The Ekiti State government has called on the traditional rulers across the state to take up Covid-19 Vaccines in the public as a way to encourage their subjects to do the same.
Dr Filani explained that the guidelines from the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency gave priority to health and frontline workers at this first phase of the vaccination noting the gesture was extended to the traditional rulers as a mark of respect and their commanding influence.
The commissioner appealed to the kings to become the advocate and champions of the vaccination exercise in their various communities because of their affinity to the people at the grassroots.
“I want to appeal to you our fathers to become an advocate and champion of this vaccination exercise because we know you have a greater influence on your people.”
The health boss assured the Obas of the efficacy and effectiveness of the vaccines with lots of clinical trials to guarantee it safety noting that international and national regulatory bodies such as WHO, UNICEF and NAFDAC had also subjected the vaccines to multiple tests,  analysis and affirmed that they are not injurious in any form to the people.
“Ekiti continues to remain at the forefront of the vaccines campaigns with more than 50% of targeted population already reached in less than 10 days.” The commissioner disclosed.
The  Chairman of the Traditional Council, Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti (HRM) Oba Adebanji Alabi who was represented by the Arinjale of Ise Ekiti, (HRM) Oba(Dr) Ayodele Adetunji Ajayi expressed deep apperception to Ekiti state government in its efforts at curtailing the spread of the virus since its outbreak.
“Ekiti state government has been very proactive in handling the pandemic since its outbreak, we commend the government for that, we will continue to give the necessary support in the fight against the deadly Virus”. The first-class traditional rulers said.
The Owa-Ooye of Okemsi Ekiti (HRM)Oba Gbadebo Adedeji, Alare of Are Ekiti (HRM) Oba Boluwade Adebiyi, Elewu of Ewu Ekiti(HRM) Oba Bamidele Olatunji, as well as Olosan Osan Ekiti (HRM) Bamidele Tajudeen, called for adequate and proper awareness on the vaccination exercise. They charged vaccinating team to be fair to all and sundry in the exercise.
They assured the government of their total support to ensure that the exercise was successful in their various communities and in the state at large.
