War Of Words In Ekiti Over Ministerial Slot (Part 2)
WHO IS AFRAID OF KAYODE FAYEMI?
There must be a coward lurking in the dark who is afraid of former Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State. Otherwise why would anybody go into an harangue entitled “Many sins of Fayemi that may scuttle his ministerial ambition?”
All that the write-up could attract from discerning minds is pity for the faceless writer and his paymasters. It was evident from the write-up that the writer made a feeble attempt at detracting from Dr Kayode Fayemi, who has carved the stature of a political colossus for himself.
The writer and his paymasters are obviously overwhelmed by the large and enviable political stature of Dr Fayemi, which they believe stands the former Governor in good stead to be nominated as a minister by President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Everybody everybody knows Asiwaju Tinubu for his penchant to pick the best brains for any given task which will again come into play in the great assignment of launching Nigeria into unprecedented level of development. This was what the President-elect did in Lagos State when he held sway as Governor.
The fictitious writer and his sponsors are aware that Asiwaju would obviously count on Governor Fayemi when the President-elect has to consider candidates for ministerial slots.
The mischievous people behind the write-up are quite aware of the fact that Dr Fayemi, having being in the trenches with BAT in the days of struggle against military juntas to entrench democracy in Nigeria, cannot be forgotten now that the struggle has yielded the desired result.
Sponsors of this opprobrious article are aware of the penchant of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu not to lose or forget his age-long friends and allies. Asiwaju Tinubu and Dr Fayemi has come a long way and no mischievous politician could drive a wedge between the duo in pursuit of politics of “pull-him-down.”
The real sponsor of the writer must be a political nonentity who feels the only one who could stop him from becoming minister nominated from Ekiti is Dr John Kayode Fayemi because of his high political profile. To whoever that person is, the fear of Fayemi’s political stature is the beginning of wisdom.
This must be the reason why he employed an hatchet writer who could not even scratch the enviable profile of Dr John Kayode Fayemi to do the dirty and ignoble job for him. We have a bad news for the hatchet writer and his sponsor(s): all their antics would end up being efforts in futility.
Dr Fayemi is not only an internationally acclaimed scholar, he is a political activist, an academic with many publications to his credit, a respected voice in global diplomacy, a former Governor, a former Minister and a former Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum as well as a former Presidential Aspirant.
All of these have placed Dr Fayemi in a special class of Nigeria political leaders, who should be consulted on national matters. Dr Fayemi has earned the respect of the people of Nigeria with his stellar performance in the offices he occupied and ignoring such an asset would be difficult for a wise statesman like Asiwaju Tinubu.
It is because of all of these and many other attributes of the former Governor and the known tendencies and precedents of the president-elect that led to the frustration of the writer of this offensive article and his sponsor(s).
It is for this reason that one would call on discerning minds to totally ignore this feeble attempt at rubbishing the impeccable reputation that took Dr John Kayode Fayemi many years to build.
