Ekiti Varsity Introduces CBT To Curb Examination Malpractices
Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, (EKSU) is set to introduce Computer Based Testing (CBT) in the conduct of examinations for the students of the institution.
The effort, according to the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele was targeted at curbing paper wastages, examination malpractices and supervision bottlenecks.
Addressing a press conference heralding the 22nd convocation ceremony of the institution yesterday, Prof Bandele disclosed that the University management and Senate had already commenced paperless system at its meetings.
He said, “EKSU had deployed a full blown portal for admissions, registration of students, teaching-learning processes while bursary, registry operations and general administration are in the process of being digitalized.
” We make bold to say that EKSU website has remained very active as it provides latest news, information, happenings and events about the University to the general public”.
The VC who called for a stiffer security scrutiny for prospective nominees for the management of Nigerian universities before their appointments are ratified such will stop criminals from finding their ways into such exalted positions.
He said the university will be turning out a total of 10,206 degree graduates with 37 of them coming off with first class honours, while not less than 398 will bag Ph.D, Masters, Professional Masters and Post Graduate Diploma degrees.
He added that Governors of Gombe and Oyo States, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo and Senator Abiola Ajimobi respectively, the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and a member of House of Representatives, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu , are to be conferred with Degrees( Honoris Causa) , as part of the week long celebration .
The wife of the Governor, Mrs Feyisetan Fayose, also commissioned the N70 million Water factory built by the university, describing the entrepreneurial policy of the institution as outstanding.
While stating that the business innovations will help in shoring up the internally generated revenues of the institution, Bandele also revealed that the university has commissioned its block industry while tremendous and appreciable works have been done on its bakery factory, which he said will commence operation soon.
The VC said: “In pursuance of strengthening the internationalization agenda of this university, we are into Memoranda of Understanding with the University of California, Faculty of Agriculture, Auburn
University, Alabama , USA and University of Nottingham University, UK in agriculture , engineering and sciences.
“The collaborative efforts would give opportunities for staff exchange in engineering, science, , mathematics and agriculture and also encourage bulk lecturing where an academic staff could come from
abroad and lecture EKSU students”.
Bandele said the dream of making EKSU a full-fledged residential institution is gradually being realized with the 20,000-bed space hostels being constructed that would accommodate large number of
students’ population .
