PDP Lost A Master Strategist In Senator Fadahunsi – IUGG
An Ijesaland socio-political group, home and abroad, Ijesa Unite for Good Governance (IUGG) has lamented the loss of the lawmaker representing Osun East at the Upper Chamber, Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, to the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Fadahunsi who tendered his resignation letter as a member of PDP to join the opposition party in the state recently attributed his exit to irreconcilable differences among PDP.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Kazeem Ibikunle, the group blamed the leadership of Osun PDP for not managing the party well.
The statement read in part: “It is disheartening that the Peoples Democratic Party allowed one of her first eleven to quit the Party. The departure of distinguished Senator Fadahunsi OFR from the PDP is one of the lowest points in the history of Osun State PDP.
“Fada, as fondly called, brought a lot of energy and vigour into the PDP while it was in the opposition in Osun State. Under the administration of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, it was a taboo to be a member of PDP, however, Senator Fadahunsi took up the challenge and turned the fortune of the party in Osun.
“While spending his resources and galvanising other party faithfuls, the party became very attractive and this culminated into the victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke who made history by defeating an incumbent governor.
“The party repeated the same feat during the National and State Assemblies elections where she won all the 12 National Assembly seats and 25 out of the 26 seats in the State House of Assembly”.
His contributions to the PDP, according to IUGG includes presentation of a 46 seater fully air conditioned bus to the party, supply of trailer loads of Rice and Rams for Ileya and Christmas to members of the PDP across the State being the only Serving Senator of the Party in the 9th Assembly then, financial support for the running of the State Secretariat including payment of Rents and staff stipend.
Others are the purchase of 2 Units of 16 seater Air conditioned buses for the PDP Executive and administrative use in 2022, purchase of SUVs and cars for State, Senatorial and Party Executives for administrative convenience, massive empowerment that cut across all levels irrespective of political party affiliation, financial support for members according to their needa and many more.
“Fadahunsi is a master strategist when it comes to politics in Ijesaland and a visionary leader whose leadership style worth emulating’
“However, despite his public resignation from PDP and his joining majority party at the National Assembly, many other political parties in the state are yearning for him to join their parties.
“Notable among them is the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, where its chairman, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, said their doors are widely open to accept Fadahunsi”.
Odeyemi, who described the senator as a wave of hope, who had brightened many lives across the state and his constituency in particular, noted that Fadahunsi is a living seed that grows bountifully anywhere it falls.
