Fayose Planning To Install Next Governor Through Fraudulent Means -Faparusi
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ekiti State, Hon Bamidele Faparusi on Sunday accused the Ekiti State governor Mr. Ayodele Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) of planning to install its candidate for the July 14 governorship election in the state through the backdoor .
Speaking to newsmen in Ado Ekiti , Faparusi, a former member House of Representatives said the law suit filed by African Peoples Party(APP) challenging the eligibility of the Minister of Mines and Steel Development , Dr Kayode Fayemi as the APC candidate for the July 14 governorship election was a calculated move to give undue advantage and soft landing for the PDP candidate.
He accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of instigating the suit to ease his quest to install his surrogate and Deputy Governor, Prof Kolapo Olusola, as his successor.
According to him, the Supreme Court through the cases of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kano State Governor, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso adjudicated on similar cases and passed unequivocal verdicts that only a court of law can stop anybody from aspiring into elective positions.
APP, had last week filed a suit in Abuja against Fayemi’s eligibility for the election on account of his refusal to resign as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and indictment by a judicial commission of inquiry set up by Fayose to probe his administration.
Faparusi who stated that Fayose allegedly propelled the litigants in taking the action with sinister motive to disqualify Fayemi and pave way for his anointed candidate urged the APC members and the people of the state to disregard Fayose’s antics and refuse to be distracted by such undemocratic action .
On the consistent allegation being raised by Fayose that APC was planning to rig the election, Faparusi pointed out that the governor was being haunted by his past, describing the opposition party as too civilized to rig elections.
