Group Raises Alarm Over Threat To Lives Of Members
A socio-cultural group in Osun “Osun Koya” Friday raised an alarm over alleged threat to lives of members over their comments on the dastardly acts of some herdsmen in recent times.
The organisation in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo by its national coordinator, Mr. Samuel Olaitan noted that apart from verbal threat through anonymous phone calls, the whereabout of two of the members of the group are not known as at the time of issuing the statement yesterday.
Olaitan who claimed to have petitioned the police called on the appropriate authorities to act on his plight so as to save him and other members of the group.
According to him unknown gunmen invaded his residence in Osogbo last Tuesday around 2.00 pm to
unleash terror on him.
Olaitan who stated that his saving grace was that he had traveled to a neighboring town by the time they came with their evil intentions,
The victim who stressed that, he had reported the incident to the security operatives in the state, stated that, his lawyer had sent a petition to that effect to the state police command for thorough investigation.
“For the record, two of the group members who are Abiodun Ogunniyi and Abidemi Awoniyi’s whereabouts still remain unknown in the last four days and all efforts to trace them have proved abortive.
“I also want to appeal to the police to please act on the information to ascertain their whereabouts and get them rescued alive”.
“I want the appropriate authorities to act fast on this because, I now live in fear and anxiety. Infact, as I am now, I have vacated and relocated to another place to ensure that, my life is not put in danger.”
“The only hope I have now is the police and that is why I am appealing to them to speedily swing into action and address the issue in no distance time.”
