Two To Die By Hanging Over Armed Robbery In Osun
Ayodeji Adeleke and Abiodun Oyedunmola were Wednesday convicted for armed robbery and sentenced to death by hanging by an Osun State High Court presided by Justice Jide Falola.
The convicts while armed had on 14th of April, 2016, attacked one Owonifari Muiydeen of Oke-ila, Mr. Bayepade Olubunmi on 3rd of April 2016, and Pastor Afolabi Clement on the 28th of March 2016 and 9th, December, 2015.
To prove the case, Barrister Muyiwa Ogunleye, the Prosecution Counsel from Osun State Ministry of Justice called five witnesses and tendered eleven exhibits which include one cartridge ammunition, one gun, two handset and confessional statement of the convicts.
While delivering his judgement, Justice Falola said the prosecution counsel has proved his case beyond reasonable doubt and therefore found them guilty on the charges preferred against them.
However, Counsel to the convicts’ Barrister Sulaimon Bello pleaded with the Court to temper justice with mercy.
In his judgement, Justice jide Falola sentenced the duo to life imprisonment for conspiracy and death by hanging for Armed Robbery.
The Court Session was moved to the Ilesa correctional Centre to maintain the prevailing social distance order due to COVID-19 pandemic.
