Ife Clash: Ooni Charges Commission Of Enquiry On Fair Hearing
Amid controversy trailing the recent ethnic clash between the Yoruba and Hausa communities in Osun State, the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi yesterday charged the five-man judicial commission of enquiry set-up by the Osun State government to look into the clash to be fair to all parties involved.
While pledging his support and that of his Chiefs in ensuring that the members of the commission actualise their mission, the monarch admonished them to be honest in their investigation.
He informed members of the commission that many Yoruba leaders were interested in the outcome of their investigation.
The commission, led by its Chairman, Justice Moshood Adeigbe who were received by Oba Ogunwusi in his palace pledged its commitment to be fair to the concerned parties.
Justice Adeigbe assured the monarch that members of the commission would not trade their integrity for anything.
He said the commission was out to ensure that the real perpetrators of the dastardly act were brought to book and ensure that all warring factions appeased.
He called on whosoever has memoranda to present to submit it to the commission.
During the visit, members of the commission did a sight-seeing of some affected buildings and addressed leaders of both the communities.
Members of the commission who have been given four weeks to work include: Justice Moshood Adeigbe who is the chairman, Mrs. Bose Dawodu, DCP (rtd), Barrister Ismail Ajibade, the State Commissioner of Police, the State Director of DSS and Mr. Bisi Babalola who will act as the secretary.
