ISWAP Regrouping Around Lake Chad- Ndume
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC, Borno South), has raised the alarm that members of Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) are regrouping around the Lake Chad Basin in Borno State.
Ndume also condemned Saturday’s killing of Brig-Gen. Dzarma Zirkusu by ISWAP terrorists around Chibok area of the state.
According to him, the death of the soldiers is a big blow to the insurgency war, saying that it was an ambush laid by the terrorists.
He further revealed that residents of Chibok town were already relocating since the killing of the General.
“I want to express my condolences to the Nigerian Army over the death of the General who died along Chibok road. ISWAP terrorists attacked a town there. They know that the General was the major obstacle to their operation. They laid ambush and rammed a bomb-laden car into his vehicle. He was a gallant soldier.”
In a related development, ISWAP terrorists have kidnapped a director of a library and six others in Borno State.
The leader of the Fulani Community in Askira, Bello Ndottiwa, was also abducted, yesterday, near Buratai town, while travelling to Askira along Damaturu/Biu road.
