Jonathan’s Aide, Kuku, Associates Set To Dump PDP
The crisis rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) appears to be having a harder impact on the Ondo state chapter as two major financiers of the party are making moves to join the All Progressives Congress ( APC).
They are Hon Kingsley Kuku, former Special Adviser and Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme under the immediate past administration as well as former western fringe commander of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Chief Bibopere Ajube, alias General Shoot at Sight.
While Kuku was the brain behind the nomination of Mr John Ola Mafo as running mate to the PDP’s governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, Ajube funded the party in Ese-Odo Local Government Area in the November 26, 2016 governorship election won by APC’s Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, now governor.
It was gathered that Kuku, who is currently on self exile in the United States owing to his running battle with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) over alleged mismanagement of Amnesty funds had penultimate week, passed the message across to his supporters back home to prepare and join the ruling APC in the state.
It could not be immediately confirmed if the former presidential aide’s decision to pitch tent with the APC is linked with the need to have a soft landing regarding the anti-graft agency’s probe of the Amnesty Office during his tenure as head.
Ajube who is an associate of Kuku is said to have open discussions with some close confidants of Governor Akeredolu on behalf of the former adviser even as he seeks to retain the local vigilante job given to his company, Gallery Security Services Limited by the immediate-past governor, Olusegun Mimiko.
When contacted on the issue , one of Kingsley Kuku aide, Mr. Kennedy Peretei, denied reports that he and his principal are considering leaving PDP for APC .
Peretei who said, he was surprised about the news,noted that all the names mentioned and himself have no plan to dump PDP.
He said “To set the record straight, there is nothing of such and I don’t know where these lies originated from. But I can only speak for myself, I don’t have any to join APC “.
