Kaduna Gov Reshuffles Cabinet, Swaps Two Commissioners

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has  effected a minor cabinet reshuffle, swapping the portfolios of two key commissioners in his bid to “re-energise the machinery of government for optimal service delivery.”

This is according to a statement signed on Monday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibraheem Musa.

It noted that the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sule Shuaibu (SAN), has been redeployed to the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.

James Kanyip (PhD), who previously held that position, will now serve as the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

Musa noted that the cabinet reshuffle was aimed at strengthening the operational effectiveness of the ministries by leveraging the individual capacities and experience of the commissioners.

“Governor Uba Sani charged the two top functionaries to approach their new responsibilities with fairness, total commitment and integrity,” the statement read.

The governor, according to the statement, expressed confidence that both men would bring their wealth of experience to bear on their new roles, emphasising that service delivery remains a cornerstone of his administration.

“The Governor expects them to bring their extensive experiences and knowledge to bear on their new assignments. He wished them God’s guidance and protection,” Musa added.

Though described as a “minor reshuffle,” political watchers say the swap involves two of the most sensitive and high-profile ministries in the state: Justice and Internal Security, both of which have played crucial roles in the administration’s fight against banditry, kidnappings, and reform of the justice sector.

“A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Sule Shuaibu, is known for his deep legal expertise and previously led reforms within the Kaduna State judiciary.

“His move to the Internal Security ministry places him at the forefront of the state’s security coordination, especially in the context of rising rural banditry and communal tensions.

“On the other hand, Dr. James Kanyip, a seasoned legal scholar and former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, brings academic depth and administrative experience to the Ministry of Justice.

“His previous work in community conflict resolution and security policy is expected to provide a broad perspective in his new role as Attorney General,” it read.
