Kano Gov Visits Bandit-hit Communities

The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Tuesday visited communities affected by bandit attacks, describing the security challenges facing parts of Kano as “new and alien” to the state.

Yusuf made the remark at Tsanyawa town, headquarters of Tsanyawa Local Government Area, where he visited troops of the Joint Task Force combating banditry and kidnapping in some communities in the state.

“Insecurity challenges are something new and something alien that have just been observed here in the state, and by the grace of Allah, we will do whatever it takes to nip them in the bud, especially the activities of these bandits, kidnappers and others.

“We are aware that they have been attacking innocent communities, especially here in Tsanyawa and Shanono Local Government Areas.

“Many innocent lives were taken away. Many innocent people were also sent to the bush. We want to assure you that, in Sha Allah, those who were kidnapped will be brought back to join their families,” the governor said.

He said he was in the local government to assess the security situation in the area and interact with the troops manning the affected communities.

“We are also here to encourage you and motivate you to put in more of your best. I assure you that government, along with all the security agencies, are here to support you.

“We will continue to do the needful, ensure your welfare, and make sure that you are well taken care of,” Yusuf added.

Earlier, the Commander, 3rd Brigade, Nigerian Army, Kano, Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, told Governor Yusuf that the troops were based in Tsanyawa town and manning some vulnerable positions within the affected communities.

He said such areas included Yanchibi and Yanganau, “where we have been facing security threats these past few days.”

“It is a very big privilege for us to have your presence this morning. The troops are very happy to see the Executive Governor himself,” Tukur added.
