Man Docked Over Fraud In Osun
Twenty-five-year-old Tofade Paul was on Monday arraigned before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife over alleged fraud.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Abdullahi Emmanuel, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 8, 2020 at Oke-Ogbo Area, Ile-Ife.
Emmanuel said that the defendant fraudulently obtained the sum of N45,000 from one Elutilo Adeoluwa, with pretence to pay it in a week but failed to do so.
He added that the defendant also collected the sum of N233,000 from one Moses Olakunle with the pretence to pay in a month and failed.
Besides, he also fraudulently collected the sum of N35,000 from one Adebayo Benjamin with the pretence to pay it in a week but failed to do so.
The Prosecutor stated further that the offence contravened section 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Babatunde Akanni, applied for the bail of his client with the promise that he would not jump bail, but stand his case.
Magistrate A.A. Adebayo granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N300,000 with one surety in like sum.
Adebayo said that the surety must swear to affidavit of means, resides within the court jurisdiction as well as produce three recent passport photographs each as he adjourned the case until Sept 17, for hearing.
