Man Docked For Receiving Stolen Property
For allegedly receiving stolen property, Osun State Police command Thursday, arraigned one Dauda Olaonipekun before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun State.
Olaonipekun, 43, who agreed to be prosecuted in the court however pleaded not guilty to a count charge of stealing preferred against him.
The Prosecutor, Sgt Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on August 27, 2017, around 5:30 am at Sabo, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that the accused received a Nokia 201 handset valued N25, 000 from one Bisi Olawole, which he knew was a stolen property of Ayo Okekunle.
He added that the offence contravened section 427 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
Though no counsel pleaded on his behalf, Senior Magistrate, Mrs Risikat Olayemi, granted the accused N20,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
Olayemi said that the surety must swear to affidavit of means, be a blood relation, who resides within the court jurisdiction as she adjourned the case till Nov 9, for hearing.
