By Olu Osikoya
The Ogun State government has commended the Rural Access And Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) for the conception and development of applications to ensure that contractors handling road projects in the hinterland do jobs to specification.
Commissioner for Rural Development in the State, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun, who gave the commendation during the flag-off of a three-day training on the Nigeria Rural Transportation Infrastrucure Management System (NiRTIMS), to allow for road prioritisation in the country said the “evil of project abandonment will be draatically reduced when the applications are fully deployed”
Oludotun, who was supported by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Adetunjj Kanimodo, assured the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) of total cooperation for the success of the projects, just as he stressed the importance of the Construction site and monitoring system (CosMos) for real time monitoring of projects.
“50 percent solution to the problem of abandoned projects is assured with these applications. It aligns with the vision and mission of this government under the ISEYA mantra which starts with Infrastructure,” Oludotun stated at a training where Geographic Information System and Infrastructure Engineers in RAAMP thirteen States are being trained.
Earlier in his remark, the representative of National Coordinator of RAAMP, Engr. Bukar-Gana said the nation would be “helped a great deal with the real time response by beneficiaries of projects to possible infraction on project specification by contractor.”
He commended the State government for putting up what he described as superlative arrangement, despite the training short notice.
