Osun Ex- Speaker Joins 2018 Governorship Race

Former Speaker of Osun state House of Assembly, Hon. Adejare Bello on Tuesday stormed the state secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with letter of intent to contest for the September 22 governorship election under the platform of the party.

He said his experience after serving 12 years in the House of Assembly should make him the preferred candidate for the party.

The former speaker, who was first elected in year 1999 into the House of Assembly representing Ede State Constituency, was the Minority Leader of the House and was elected Speaker in year 2003 and served till year 2011.

He served both ex PDP governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and later Mr. Rauf Aregbesola of Action Congress (AC) before exiting office.

Commenting on his experience serving both Oyinlola and Aregbesola while addressing members of the party and PDP leaders before he presented his letter of intent, Bello said Aregbesola’s major fault as governor is that he does not take advice.

“Oyinlola’s biggest monthly allocation as governor was N1.8billion and he did his best to affect lives of Osun people positively. Rauf Aregbesola would have been the best governor in history of the state but he does not take advice. He is Mr. know all.

“I have the experience. I served all the governors that have ruled Osun state and my 12 years as a lawmaker has given me in-depth knowledge about governance in the state.

On his plans, if chosen to fly PDP flag, Bello promised to give due respect to the leadership of the party by getting it involved in all programmes of his administration.

He charged members to be dedicated and approach September 22 governorship election with the deserved seriousness, saying with unity of purpose, PDP would win the governorship poll.

Responding, the state party chairman, Mr. Soji Adagunodo, promised a level playing ground for all aspirants intending to vie for PDP ticket, stressing the need for all members to work towards a successful outing for the party.
