Hundreds Benefit From Oyetola’s Eye Care Programme
As part of IleriOluwa Development Initiative’s commitment to enhance the living condition of Osun people, no fewer than 700 eye patients have benefited from its ongoing eye care intervention programme in the state.
Speaking at the inauguration of the programme in Osogbo on Wednesday, the President, IleriOluwa Development Initiative, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola stated that her NGO has decided to synchronize the intervention with the period of the 2021 World Sight Day due for commemoration today.
The IOD Chairman who is also the wife of the state governor said It is very important that every person constantly seek care for their eyes because of the negative effects of diabetes, traumas, cataracts and infections on eyes.
According to her, beside the eye care delivery, IleriOluwa Development Initiative shall be having a consultative engagement with a group of eye experts to mark the 2021 World Sight Day.
The objective of this according to Mrs Oyetola is to bring intensive awareness on the importance of our eyes and their care to the overall health.
Mrs Oyetola noted that as we grow or age, certain eye conditions are bound to emerge which would demand medical or clinical attention adding that lack of this attention or care could lead to reduced eyesight or total loss of vision.
Beneficiaries enjoyed free medical consultation, treatment, drugs and eye glasses as the case may be at the programme.
A beneficiary, Mrs Idowu Owopetu who lauded Mrs Oyetola for the initiative said the programme helped her to access not only enjoy consultation but medication without stress especially during this economic downturn.
Meanwhile, Mrs Oyetola said her NGO shall consider making the exercise a regular item on their program package with an advice for beneficiaries of the eye Care program to also take to the advice of the experts as they attend to them during the programme.
