Police Arrest Three With Human Skull In Osun

The Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the alleged unlawful possession of a human skull exhumed from a family grave in the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

Ojelabi said a resident of the state had reported on June 17 that he visited the grave of his late elder brother on June 15 within their family compound and discovered that the grave had been tampered with and the deceased’s skull removed by unknown persons.

Ojelabi noted that following the report, police operatives commenced an investigation and acted on credible intelligence which led to the arrest of Ojo.

He stated, “On 17th June 2026 at about 0830hrs, the complainant reported at Oba-Ile Police Station that, upon visiting the grave of his late elder brother on 15th June 2026, located within their family compound, he discovered that the grave had been tampered with and the skull of the deceased had been removed by unknown person(s).

“Following the report, police operatives immediately launched an investigation. Acting on credible intelligence, one suspect identified as Ogunsola Ojo ‘m’ aged 40 years, was arrested.”

He noted that during interrogation, the suspect allegedly implicated three others identified as Ayeloja Lattef, Azeez Rasheed, and one Kunle Fatai, who is currently at large.

The command added that a search conducted at Fatai’s residence led to the recovery of the suspected human skull concealed in an uncompleted building beside his house.

“Subsequent search operations conducted at the residence of the said Kunle Fatai led to the recovery of the suspected human skull concealed in an uncompleted building adjacent to his house.

“The recovered item has been documented and registered as an exhibit,” he added.

Ojelabi noted that investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and arrest the fleeing suspect.

He added that the arrested suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

“The police command reiterates its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining public confidence in the rule of law,” the statement concluded.

The Lagos State Police Command arrested a 21-year-old man, Samson Onilewaji, with a suspected human hand during a stop-and-search operation along the Lekki-Epe Expressway area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, had in a statement noted that the suspect was also caught with two locally made pistols and other suspected stolen items.

According to her, the suspect was travelling in an unregistered commercial shuttle bus with five other occupants when officers intercepted the vehicle during a routine operation.
