Sanwo-Olu Congratulates Senator Fatimat Raji-Rasaki At 70
•Felicitates ex-Lagos Military Governor’ wife on 50th wedding anniversary
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the former First Lady of Ogun, Ondo and Lagos states, Senator Fatimat Raji-Rasaki, on her 70th birthday anniversary.
Senator Raji-Rasaki, the wife of former Military Governor, Brigadier-General Raji Rasaki (rtd), clocks 70 on Tuesday, January 13. She was a distinguished Senator, representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District in the Eighth National Assembly. She was former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment.
The Governor also congratulated the former federal lawmaker and her husband for their 50th wedding anniversary, saying five decades of marriage, which has produced many positive things in life, is worth celebrating.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, commended Senator Raji-Rasaki for her advocacy on gender issues and grassroots politics, as well as championing women’s empowerment and development policies during her tenure in the National Assembly.
He said: “On behalf of my adorable wife, Ibijoke, the government and the people of Lagos State, I heartily congratulate Senator Fatimat Raji-Rasaki, wife of former Military Governor of Ogun, Ondo and Lagos states, Brigadier-General Raji Rasaki (rtd), on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee celebration and 50th Wedding Anniversary.
“Senator Raji-Rasaki attaining the age of 70 years in grace and elegance is worth celebrating because of many positive impacts she made in our dear Lagos State, during her tenure as the First Lady. She is a caring, loving, and supportive wife and mother.
“As a federal lawmaker, she impacted and transformed lives in Ekiti State and Nigeria at large. Senator Raji-Rasaki sponsored several significant bills, including the Federal Competitions and Consumer Protection Bill and amendments to the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA). She is committed to humanitarian services and community development through several empowerment programmes for widows, students and local investors.
“On this landmark occasion of Senator Fatimat Raji-Rasaki’s Platinum Jubilee birthday and 50 years of blessed marriage to Brigadier-General Raji Rasaki (rtd), I pray that God will continue to preserve and grant her perfect health and an abundance of joy to enable her to render more service to humanity.
