South West Governors Vow To Bid For Murtala Muhammed Airport Concession
The Governors in South West region on Wednesday said they will bid for the concession of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, saying they have all it takes to turn it to a world class infrastructure.
The six governors who rose from a quarterly Western Nigeria Governor’s Forum hosted by Lagos State Government with the theme, ‘Consolidating The Legacy of Regional Integration’, agreed that Lagos State is formally a member of the O’dua Investment Group.”
The governors in the nine agenda communique said,”That the states in the region will embark on a Rice Accelerated Programme for Integrated Development (Western RAPID) to further consolidate actions on food security and job creation in the Region.
“That a Regional Agriculture Summit be held in Ibadan, Oyo State in May 2018 and sponsored by Lagos State: That DAWN Commission, Focal Representatives and Agriculture Commissioners hold a technical session with Nigeria Incentive-based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) and develop a state by state roadmap in four weeks before the Regional Agriculture Summit scheduled for May 2018.
“That DAWN Commission should work on reviving Regional Inter-School Football Competition
“ That DAWN Commission should conduct a study on the successes in Education in Ekiti State for peer learning adoption among the Western Nigeria states.
“That DAWN Commission, and the focal representatives should structure a programme on the Omoluabi Ethos of the Yoruba people.
“That the States of the Regions as a bloc will be monitoring the process for the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Concession into a world class infrastructure.
“That Mr Oluseye Oyeleye is confirmed as the substantive Director General of DAWN Commission.”
The South West governors that attended the forum include Lagos State Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Oyo State Governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Ekiti State Governor Mr. Ayodele Fayose, and Ogun State Deputy Governor Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga who represented Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
