Speakership Tussle: Tight Security At Lagos House Of Assembly
The plenary scheduled for Monday morning at the Lagos State House of Assembly has yet to commence as security officials have taken over the assembly complex.
The tight security may not be unconnected with the leadership tussle between the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa and the newly elected Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.
No fewer than 10 police vans are stationed at the assembly gate as early as 7am on Monday.
Lawmakers are currently gathered outside the assembly chamber discussing the situation.
Sources said on Monday that Department of State Services officials had sealed the office of Speaker Mojisola Meranda.
Several onlookers are at the House, observing the situation as security personnel attached to the Speaker guard the area.
