Spurs Go Four Games Without Scoring After 0-0 Draw With Everton
Tottenham Hotspur’s wait for their first Premier League goal of the season continued as they were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Everton on Saturday.
As reported by BBC Sport, Spurs have now gone through their opening four league matches without scoring, enduring more than 400 minutes of football without finding the back of the net.
Tottenham had an early opportunity to break the deadlock in the fifth minute when Jan Paul van Hecke met a wide free-kick from Andy Robertson at the back post, but his volley sailed over the crossbar.
Everton were marginally the better side for much of the contest and came close to taking the lead after the break.
Thierno Barry had a golden opportunity in the 50th minute when he met a cross with a close-range header, but Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky produced a crucial save with his face to keep the scores level.
Kinsky was called into action again in the 65th minute after his poor pass out from the back fell to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The Everton midfielder looked set to punish the mistake, but the Spurs goalkeeper recovered quickly to block his effort with his leg.
Tottenham were unable to produce a late breakthrough, leaving them with just two points from their opening four league games.
The result leaves Spurs 17th in the Premier League table, just one point above the relegation zone, while Everton remain unbeaten and sit seventh with their strong start to the campaign intact.
