Stop Damaging Our Meters, Ogun Cautions Pure Water Producers

The General Manager, Ogun State Water Corporation, Engr. (Mrs),‎ Monsurat Agboola has cautioned the sachet/pure water factories in the state to stop tampering and damaging the pre-paid water meters being installed in their various factories.

She said the meters were properties of the Corporation as they installed it with no cost of money to both domestic and commercial customers in the state, noting that customers were to take proper care of the meters and protect it from been damaged/tampered with by unscrupulous elements in the society.

The GM added that it has come to fore that some unscrupulous elements in the state used to tamper with the water meters, bypassing in order not to pay their monthly dues on water being used, noting that it would have a negative impact on the users ‎when noticed by the Corporation, which would leads to disconnection.

“The meters remain the properties of Ogun State Water Corporation and should be protected against any form of damage, loss and vandals which will attract a penalty against the user if damaged or loss and people should also desist from bypassing the meters”, Agboola said.

She emphasized that water meter billing system has come to stay in the State and every customer of the Corporation would be given water meter as soon as more meters are available for distribution, adding that any customer that were interested should approach the Corporation.

Agboola, however, said that a penalty/fine of N50, 000 as minimum estimated water usage for any loss of meter would be imposed on customers on monthly basis, depending on the capacity of the factory and N100, 000 for replacement of meter before any re-connection would be made, assuring the residents of the state of adequate water supply both for domestic and commercial use.
