Troops Arrest Suspected Kidnapping Facilitator In Taraba
Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have recorded a significant breakthrough in ongoing security operations in Taraba State, following the arrest of a man suspected of involvement in kidnapping activities in Wukari Local Government Area.
According to the Brigade’s Spokesman, Lieutenant Umar Mohammed, troops acting on credible intelligence on 22 November 2025 apprehended Mr. Umar Musa Geyi at Jandei–Kulamu in Wukari LGA.
He said the suspect had been under security watch and is suspected to be associated with a group believed to have carried out several criminal activities within the area.
Preliminary inquiries suggest a possible link between the suspect and the abduction of Alhaji Jano, a Fulani resident of the Jandei–Kulala general area, who was kidnapped on 13 November 2025 and remains missing.
Security sources said the arrest followed an operation during which troops intercepted the suspect while he was allegedly engaged in a phone conversation referencing the missing victim and discussing a ransom demand. Authorities emphasize that all claims are still under investigation.
Mr. Geyi is currently in custody as security operatives work to verify details, identify others who may be connected, and locate the missing victim.
The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift response and reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to disrupting criminal activities, rescuing victims, and enhancing security across Taraba State.
He called on residents to remain alert and continue providing credible information to assist security agencies.
