Vanilla is not bland

Post by RobbyFalcon »

I would like to see an end to the use of "vanilla" to mean bland, boring or predictable. Vanilla is great. When you eat a pastry or pancake and you say, "dang, this is good! What's in it?" Besides a lot of butter, there's a good chance it's vanilla, a truly magical seed, giving the food that heavenly sensation that makes you moan joyously, "Ohhh-ho-ho."

Good, quality vanilla ice cream is not bland at all, it's fantastic. And this is coming from a guy who smoked menthol cigarettes for a couple of years. Even with my damaged taste buds, I know vanilla is good eating. So instead of saying, "Oh that offense is sooooo vanilla." Please change it to "Oh that offense is so Kroger brand imitation vanilla."

Go BG!

How about water? Pure H2O (little self-promotion)is very flavorless-mostly minerals and stuff that give it the flavor. So I'm thinking-"They run the most water offense imaginable".

Vanilla may not be bland, but Vanilla Ice sure is.

I found a vanilla porter at Anderson's a while ago. (I'm not recalling the brewer off the top of my head.) It was like cream soda for grown ups. SO GOOD!
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.
