Your Investment Hard At Work

Bowling Green State University's varsity athletics teams have enjoyed success on the playing fields, and BGSU's student-athletes have been successful in the classroom as well.

A total of 203 student-athletes had a GPA of 3.00 or higher in the fall, and 191 (47%) of BGSU's student-athletes currently maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above for their collegiate academic careers, to date. A total of 110 student-athletes had a semester GPA of 3.50 or better in the fall, with 44 of those achieving a perfect 4.00 GPA.

Through the fall, 94 student-athletes own a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, with 25 of those Falcons currently holding a perfect 4.00 GPA.

As a group, the BGSU student-athletes maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.92 in the fall semester, led by the volleyball team. That squad had a GPA of an eye-popping 3.75, with every team members owning at least a 3.0 GPA or higher.

The women's golf team maintained a 3.50 GPA in the fall, with the BGSU swimming team holding a 3.48 GPA. Five other teams - the tennis (3.30), gymnastics (3.27), softball (3.20), women's soccer (3.17) and women's cross country (3.05) squads - finished with a GPA of 3.00 or greater in the fall semester.

So, did any of the men's teams have a GPA higher than 3.0?

I think this adequately shows the dichotomy between the men's and women's teams. The women's teams are just head and shoulders above the men, not to mention the rest of the university.

NCAA six-year rate/class enrolling in 1996-97
All BGSU Student-athletes 67%
All BGSU Students 60%
BGSU Women Student-athletes 91%
All BGSU Women 63%
All BGSU Men Student-athletes 52%
All BGSU Men 55%
