150th meeting Lehigh - Lafayette @ Yankee Stadium

Post by Falconian »

Next Saturday, 11/22, will be the first time ever I have been to Yankee Stadium, old or new. I have been a Lehigh fan since the early 60's. My dad, shown on the picture to the left taken in 1944, in England, that I cropped taken with his B-24 bomber crew graduated in the late 40's and my daughter got her degree 11 years ago.

This is the most played rivalry in college football.

Go Lehigh

I love historical stuff like this. It is the most-played football rivalry in the nation and the longest uninterrupted annual rivalry series. As of 2013, "The Rivalry" has been played 149 times since 1884 with only a single interruption in 1896. THAT is amazing. I read the colleges are only 17 miles apart and Lafayette leads the series, 77-67 with some ties. Have a great time...I wanna go to that game, Army-Navy, Williams-Ahmerst.

Would be great if someone would televise it.

I went to the Lehigh/Lafayette game in 2004. A great experience as I didn't know much about the history before then.

Good luck with that. Don't you know brown fabric doesn't exist?

I too have always wondered who the photo was of, Falconian. That is one great photo.

I have always loved military aviation, both the history and the present technologies - my grandfather is a retired Air Force pilot and my family is a bunch of engineers. We grew up not far from Dayton so I cannot count the number of times I've been to the Air Force Museum. The B-24 and the P-51 are magnificent to see there. I've always considered the engineers who created those birds and the crews who flew them as some of the greatest innovators and heroes of the war.

The pants were all brown. The shirt sleeves were brown. The body of the shirt was white with brown pinstripes. Pinstripes, like a baseball jersey, since they were playing in Yankee Stadium.

Liked the pin strip look. The tradition and East coast make it work. Don't know if we could pull it off in BG.
