I've just installed the software on my Joomla install, but I'm totally lost as to what to do next. I read that I'm supposed to sync the users - but there's no Sync link anywhere in the Joomla administrator area when I click on CivicRM.

And, how do I configure things like payment processors? The documentation says, go to places like "Configure » Domain Information" and "Configure » Global Settings » Outbound Email (SMTP/Sendmail)" - none of which I can find in the Joomla admin area under CiviCRM.

In the documentation, I also see notes like, "You must be logged in as a user with administer CiviCRM permission to complete these tasks. All configuration settings are accessed from the Administer CiviCRM page." I'm logged into the Joomla admin area as the superadministrator.

What the heck am I missing?

Not really; I can't find any of these actions in my Joomla administration area.

Note that CiviCRM Book is written for CiviCRM v3.2

So, I've uninstalled the version I had installed before, and then tried to reinstall it without going through the unpack-and-upload-to-tmp process. However, all that happened was that it went back to my Joomla admin control panel. So, any idea how I can get this software installed?

I need this soon, so any help will be appreciated!

Yeah, I'm more of a Linux guy myself, but I've been working on this for someone who - at least at this point - has set up a Windows server. I think I might simply try to set up their site on my live server (the previous install was on my development box) and see if that works.
