Governorship Aspirant Vows To Reposition Osun

A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Oluomo Gbenga Owolabi on Tuesday said that he has designed a template that would reposition the state.

Speaking with newsmen in Ile-Ife, Owolabi promised to pay workers in the employ of the state their full salaries promptly if elected the next governor of the state.

Owolabi said he would restore hope to the aggrieved residents of the state, adding that the current administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has inflicted agony on residents of the state .

He equally promised to boost the morale of workers for effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of social amenities by the government.

Owolabi said that the APC led government lacked focus and good leadership skills to govern the country adding that the amalgamation of APC was treacherous.

“It was based on the single fact that they want to take over power,” he said.

On corruption, Owolabi said that the reason why corruption appeared to be fighting back at the government is because government has failed to fulfil their campaign promises.

He said that government can curb corruption only if it makes people to pay for their crimes by making scapegoats of offenders.

“When you are fighting corruption, you have to follow what the laws says. The laws say when you are caught, do this or that, but that is not the case in Nigeria. And that is why you will find it very difficult to fight corruption until the heads can give mandate to all the ministers to declare their assets. If that is done, you will see changes.

“Corruption has eaten deep into the fabric of every section of the country. You cannot eradicate corruption, but you can curb it when you make guilty people scapegoats. We have good laws that can make people pay for their crimes”, he added.
