Three Injured As Container Truck Crashes On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

 

Three persons were injured after a 40ft containerised truck crashed on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, inward Mowe, Ogun State, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has said.

LASTMA disclosed this in a post on its X handle on Tuesday, following the lone road crash, which occurred on Kara Bridge, near ENYO Filling Station, around the expansion joint.

The agency said the truck suffered brake failure before crashing into demarcation blocks and other vehicles at the exit of the bridge.

The agency stated that the crash resulted in the three casualties being conveyed to an emergency centre for medical attention.

According to LASTMA, the entire carriageway inward OPIC was initially cordoned off, while counterflow traffic control measures were introduced to manage vehicular movement.

“Three casualties were recorded and have been conveyed to an emergency centre for medical attention. Recovery and evacuation efforts are underway,” the agency said in its initial update.

LASTMA said its personnel, alongside police officers from Isheri and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, were deployed to the scene to manage the situation.

In a subsequent update, the agency said recovery operations had been completed and the roadway fully cleared.

It added that traffic was flowing, although there was still a backlog of vehicles, while its personnel remained on the ground to manage the situation and ensure continuous movement.

“Recovery operations have been successfully completed at Kara Bridge inward Mowe. The roadway is now fully cleared, and traffic is flowing, although there is a backlog of traffic.

“Our personnel are fully on the ground managing the situation and ensuring continuous flow of vehicular movement,” the agency added.
